Employee Appreciation Day is the Holiday You Didn’t Know (How Much) You Needed

Over the last few years, we’ve all had to adapt to a new way of living. Those lucky enough to work from home have replaced their morning socializing with group chats over Slack and virtual meetings. The essential employees who risk possible exposure to keep our day-to-day running, have to both follow and enforce new safety and social distancing guidelines.

Needless to say, it’s been quite an adjustment for both companies and especially employees; Which is where Employee Appreciation Day comes into play.

It’s a National Holiday

Believe it or not, Employee Appreciation Day is one of the over 1,500 national holidays in the United States. Sure, some may be silly, but each holiday is meant to honor a person, activity, or passion – and National Employee Appreciation Day is no different.

In 1995, Bob Nelson, a founding board member of Recognition Professional International, and Workman Publishing created National Employee Appreciation Day. A day meant to celebrate all the hard work employees have done to make their team and companies successful.

Over the last few years, like Boss’s Day, National Employee Appreciation Day has become more popular in the business world. Held on the first Friday in March, many businesses celebrate their employees in different ways, such as catered lunches, a day off, or giving gifts.

What it means to employees

In pre-COVID times, celebrating employees was a nice perk to brighten their day. Over the last few years, it means so much more. With all the stress of COVID-19 safety precautions and still adjusting to a new way of working, employees deserve to be celebrated.

Some companies have added additional perks regularly, such as snack subscriptions, virtual happy hours, and discounted or free mental health services. One way to show employees they’re appreciated is by sending them a gift. Not just a gift card or company logo swag – but gifts they want and can choose.

The gift that keeps on giving

To solve this problem, that’s where Snappy comes in. Snappy is a leading enterprise gifting solution that gives the gift of choice to recipients. When sending a gift, recipients will get an email alerting them of their surprise and they can choose from a specially curated collection of price-point gifts. It’s fun, easy to use, and all gifts arrive in a few short days.
